Minister Gao Hucheng Meets Respectively Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Ministry of Thailand and Australian Trade and Investment Minister

  

China Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng met respectively with Mr. Boonsong Teriyapirom, Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Ministry of Thailand and Mr. Andrew Robb, Trade and Investment Minister of Australia in Bali Island in Indonesia on October 6, and exchanged views on bilateral trade and economic relations and cooperation.

Minister Gao Hucheng said in meetings with Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom that leaders from both sides maintain close communication and they direct a good way for the bilateral trade and economic cooperation. China Commerce Ministry would like to join efforts with Thailand Commerce Ministry to push bilateral development. On the basis of WTO rules and market rules, China would like to expand the trade of agro foodstuff with Thailand, and also positively support domestic enterprises to invest in Thailand. Minister Gao Hucheng also said, that China would like to work with ASEAN to put China-ASEAN Expo FTA into a higher level and hope that Thailand, as the country coordinator of China-ASEAN relations, could play an active role. China warmly welcomes the roadshow of ASEAN Economic and trade ministers later this month and will, join efforts with ASEAN, to make a successful event.

Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom said that Thailand and China maintain good bilateral relations and the achievements by trade and cooperation is remarkable. Thailand, attaches great importance to the trade and economic cooperation with China and hopes that by 2015, the bilateral trade volume could come to USD100 billion. They hope to intensify cooperation with China in agro-foodstuff trade, infrastructure construction, clean energy, and food control, etc. As the coordinator country of China-ASEAN relations, Thailand will play an active role in boosting China-ASEAN relations.

Minister Gao Hucheng said, in his meeting with Mr. Andrew Robb, that China and Australia maintain a momentum of rapid growth in bilateral relations and both sides think highly of each other. China has become Australia’s first largest trade partner and there are great potential for both sides to cooperate and invest in other areas. Both sides hope for deeper trade and economic cooperation. China hopes to step up FTA negotiations with Australia. Next year, China and Australia will host APEC and G20 Summit respectively and he hopes that both sides could strengthen the communication and cooperation to make the events successful so as to make positive contributions to enhance the regional as well as the global trade and investment.

Mr. Andrew Robb said that Australia attaches great importance to the comprehensive cooperative relations with China in trade and investment areas and he hopes to promote it to a higher-level. Australia would like to pragmatically push up China-Australia FTA negotiations. G20 Summit Meetings are closely related with APEC and Australia pays much attention to G20 nexy year, so they would like to deepen cooperation with China in this respect.

Mr. Yu Jianhua, Deputy China International Trade Representative also attends the meeting.
