China Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng Meets with ASEAN Trade and Economic Ministers

  

China Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng met with ASEAN Trade and Economic Ministers who came to attend roadshow activities in Beijing on October 25.

Minister Gao Hucheng expressed his congratulations to the successful roadshow. He said that, ASEAN delegations carried on high-efficient exchanges with Chia’s industrial and commercial circles, financial circles and the academic circles and visited relevant industrial parks, research institutions and enterprises during the period of roadshow, which realized the anticipated goal and achieved great success. China would like to start to upgrade China-ASEAN FTA negotiations as soon as possible and further, improve bilateral investment and trade facilitation. Both sides should strengthen pragmatic cooperation in infrastructure construction and bilateral investment so as to realize mutual development. In the 16th China-ASEAN (10+1) Summit and 25th APEC Ministerial Meeting that closed recently, the two sides exchanged views on relevant issues relating to the upcoming 9th WTO Ministerial Conference and early harvest negotiation of Doha round.
  
Brunei Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Lim Jock Seng said that, the roadshow was rich in contents. ASEAN delegation has fruitful exchanges with the counterpart in China on finance, infrastructure construction, and business, etc. Brunei agrees and supports the concensus to deepen bilateral cooperation in seven areas reached recently by ASEAN and China. Brunei would like to render positive support to the comprehensive cooperation relation between ASEAN and China.

Thailand's deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan said that the roadshow proves to be very successful and fruitful. The ministers all agree that they have benefited a lot from the roadshow which lays a very good foundation for future bilateral cooperation and they have great faith in realizing the goal of US$500 billion trade volume between ASEAN and China in 2015 and that of US$1trillion in the year 2020. It’s great honor for Thailand to serve as the coordinator of China-ASEAN relations and coordinator of the roadshow and he would like to extend heartfelt thanks to China.

Cambodia's Commerce Minister Sun Chanthol extended his thanks to China for the thoughtful arrangement of the roadshow. He said that Cambodia would positively promote ASEAN-China ties, thought highly of the “Diamond years” of ASEAN and China and expressed great intention to cooperate with China in infrastructure construction, etc.

Lao’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Nam Viyaketh said that the activities of roadshow were very satisfactory. Laos expects to upgrade ASEAN-China FTA negotiations and strengthen the cooperation with China in areas such as infrastructure construction.

Burma’s Minister of National Planning and Economic Development Kan Zaw, Philappines’ Trade and Industry Minister Gregory Domingo, Vietnamese Trade Minister Wu Huihuang, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry LEE Yi Shyan, ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General Lim Hong Hin, Indonesian Ambassador to China Imron Cotan, Malaysia's ambassador to China Datuk Iskandar Sarudin, and Deputy China International Trade Representative Yu Jianhua and Assistant Minister of Commerce Zhang Xiangchen also attended the meeting.

To celebrate the ten anniversary of China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership, China’s Ministry of Commerce invited ASEAN ministerial delegations to visit China from October 22 to October 26 and attend trade and investment promotion activities in Chengdu, Shanghai and Beijing. This is important trade and economic exchanges between China and ASEAN. The delegation also met with officials from Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government to join the policy sharing and dialogues with China’s industrial and commercial circles, financial circles and the academic circles.
